SAND CASTING

Casting is one of the process used for making componds of complicated shapes in larger quantites.It is the process of producing metal parts by pouring molten metal into the mould cavity of the required shape and allowing the metal  to solidify.The solidified metal piece is called as casting                                                    A plant where the castings are made is called a FOUNDRY therefore it is a collection of necessary materials tools and equipment to produce castings.

Otto Cycle – Processes with p-V and T-s Diagrams

Otto cycle is a gas power cycle that is used in spark-ignition internal combustion engines (modern petrol engines). This cycle was introduced by Dr. Nikolaus August Otto, a German Engineer.                                Cycle is defined as the series of operations or processes performed on a system so that the system attains its original state.The cycles which use air as the working fluid are knows as gas power cycles.In the gas power cycles air in the cylinder may be subjected to series of operations which cause the air to attain its origanal position.The soures of heat supply and the sink for heat rejection are assumed to be external to the air.The cycle can useally be represented on p-v and T-s diagrams
